Frequently Asked Questions

  • In our first session together, the focus will be on getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been going on recently, any goals or hopes you have for this work, and what you’d like to feel or experience differently in your life.

By the end of the consultation, we’ll have a clearer sense of whether we’re a good fit and what next steps might look like—such as how often to meet, focus areas, and what support will serve you best.

  • I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing online therapy and to residents of California, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, New York and Texas. Due to licensing laws, I can only see clients who reside in these states at the time of our sessions.

  • I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Michigan. I am also a Certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and hold a Certificate in Spiritual Life Coaching from the Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development (IVISD). In addition, I am completing my advanced-level training for certification from Somatic Experiencing International, where I continue to deepen my understanding of how trauma is held and released through the body.

  • Your first online therapy session is a gentle starting point. We’ll explore what brings you to therapy, what you’d like to heal or change, and what you hope to feel differently in your life. You set the pace—you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. Beginning to build trust – The first session is about connection, not perfection. It’s a space for us to begin building comfort and safety together.

  • Each session is a collaborative and compassionate space to explore what’s happening in your life and within yourself. I integrate talk therapy, mindfulness, and somatic awareness to help you connect thoughts, emotions, and the body. Our work may include healing from trauma, building self-compassion, and developing tools for balance and growth—all at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes and typically take place weekly to maintain consistency and support steady progress. Depending on your needs and goals, we may adjust frequency to biweekly or monthly sessions over time.

  • Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency, especially early in the process. Over time, we may move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions depending on your needs and goals. Therapy is most effective when there’s a regular rhythm—you’ll begin to notice patterns, make connections, and integrate insights between sessions.

We’ll work together to find a schedule that feels supportive and sustainable for you.

  • That’s a valid concern—and you’re not alone. Many clients come to me after a previous therapy experience that didn’t feel right. Healing depends on the fit between you and your therapist. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed, which means your lived experience and identity matter here.

We’ll take time to create safety and connection, so you can begin to experience therapy in a new way—one that honors your full story, not just your symptoms.

  • That’s a question many people ask—and the honest answer is, it depends. Healing and growth unfold at their own pace. Some clients start to feel small shifts after just a few sessions, while for others, it takes time to notice meaningful change.

Therapy isn’t about rushing to “fix” yourself—it’s about creating space to understand, heal, and reconnect with who you are. The process looks different for everyone. Together, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, check in about what’s working, and make sure our work continues to support your goals.

The intention is not perfection, but progress—and for you to begin feeling more grounded, clear, and at ease in your life.

  • Yes. All sessions take place through Google Meet, a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. This means your privacy is protected, and all information shared remains confidential. You’ll receive a unique, encrypted link for each session, accessible only to you.

Online therapy offers flexibility and comfort—you can attend from home, work, or anywhere you feel most at ease.

  • Yes. Everything shared in therapy is kept confidential under HIPAA regulations. Your privacy and trust are essential to our work together. The only exceptions are situations where I’m legally or ethically required to report—such as if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult.

Outside of those rare exceptions, what we talk about stays between us.

  • As a Black female therapist and holistic psychotherapist, I specialize in working with women of color navigating trauma, stress, identity challenges, relationships, grief, and life transitions. My approach integrates attachment-based therapy, somatic work, mindfulness-based CBT, compassion-focused therapy, and spiritual life coaching to support healing of both mind and body.

  • While my practice is geared toward supporting women of color, I warmly welcome clients of all ethnicities, genders, cultures, and faiths. My commitment is to provide a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and inclusive space where every person feels respected, seen, and supported in their healing journey.

  • My biggest strength is my balance of professional expertise, life experiences and relatability. Timely and appropriate self-disclosure helps to build a supportive interpersonal relationship with clients.  I am and have been my first client.  Guiding and supporting clients in arriving at the place where you can balance self-care, compassion and patience with personal accountability is a hallmark of my practice and clinical approach.  I am living proof that you can live beyond the pain of your past and negative, oppressive belief systems.

  • I am an out-of-network provider, which means payment is due at the time of each session. However, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement from your insurance company. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to ask about out-of-network mental health benefits.

  • That’s completely okay. Starting therapy is a personal decision. You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin. If you’re curious, we can start with a free 30-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit and talk through any questions you might have.

Therapy can be a space for exploration, healing, and reconnection—not a commitment to perfection.

  • Therapy is not a crisis service. If you’re in immediate distress, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency department. We can discuss additional crisis and community resources during our sessions to ensure you have ongoing support.

  • Beginning December 2025, I will be available to see clients using insurance through the Alma platform.
